Before you send anything ask yourself three quick questions:
I say this from having lost an on-chain test once by sending an ERC-20 token over the wrong chain (not recoverable without help). So test small. And verify the first and last 6 characters of the address after you paste.

This covers the common flow when you want to move funds from a custodial exchange (Coinbase) into a non-custodial mobile app (Trust Wallet).
Step-by-step (safe method):
Open Trust Wallet → tap Receive → select the exact token (e.g., ETH, USDT on a specific network). The app shows an address and a QR code.
Copy the address. Verify the prefix and suffix on-screen (first 6 and last 6 characters).
Open Coinbase (mobile or web) → Send/Withdraw → Paste the address. Select the same network that Trust Wallet uses for that token.
Enter a small test amount first (equivalent of a few dollars). Confirm the network and any warning about incompatible chains.
Send. On the Coinbase mobile app you will usually see a transaction ID after the send completes. Copy it.
In Trust Wallet, the token balance will update once enough confirmations arrive. Use the transaction ID and a block explorer to follow progress.
What I've found in routine testing is that confirmation times vary a lot by network. Small ERC-20 transfers cleared in a few minutes at moderate gas; Solana and many Layer 2s were much faster.
Tip: If you're using Coinbase on desktop and Trust Wallet on your phone, scanning the QR from Trust Wallet is faster than copy/paste (reduces clipboard risk).
See a dedicated walkthrough for other exchanges: transfer-from-binance.
This is the reverse flow: sending from your Trust Wallet app back to a custodial exchange.
On Coinbase, go to Receive → choose the asset and (if available) select the network. Coinbase will display a deposit address and any required memo/tag.
Copy the address and memo (if shown). If Coinbase offers multiple networks, choose the exact one you will use from Trust Wallet.
Open Trust Wallet → Wallet → select the token → Send → paste the Coinbase deposit address; add memo if required.
Review the network, gas fee estimate and the address. Adjust gas if needed (Trust Wallet allows advanced gas settings on many chains).
Confirm and send. Save the transaction hash if you need to track it.
Note: Trust Wallet itself does not charge a sending fee beyond the blockchain gas fees. But Coinbase may credit or hold deposits according to its internal rules — check Coinbase’s deposit screen for details.
transfer from coinbase to trust wallet fee — what to expect:
transfer fee from trust wallet to binance and transfer eth from binance to trust wallet fee — quick notes:

A short comparison table helps reduce mistakes.
| Network | Address example | Relative fees | When to choose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ethereum (ERC-20) | 0xabc...123 | High | Use for many tokens and DeFi on Ethereum; needs ETH for gas |
| BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20) | 0xdef...456 | Low | Lower fees; compatible addresses but different chain |
| Solana | 3u2K...XaQ | Low | Not EVM-compatible; different address format |
| Bitcoin | 1A1zP... | Medium | Native BTC transfers; no memo/tag |
Why this table matters: many tokens exist on multiple chains. Sending a token over the wrong network often results in lost funds or an extended recovery process.
If you need step-by-step recovery or to revoke approvals before moving funds, see: token-approvals-revoke and support-safety.
But remember: backups that live in the cloud (screenshots, notes) increase risk. I believe offline is safer. See full backup guidance: backup-recovery-seed-phrase and how to handle a lost device: lost-device-recovery.

Should look elsewhere if:
Q: Is it safe to keep crypto in a hot wallet?
A: Hot wallets are convenient for daily use but carry more risk than cold storage. Keep only what you need for active DeFi and swaps on a hot wallet; store long-term holdings offline.
Q: How do I revoke token approvals?
A: Use an on-chain approval checker to see allowances and revoke them. If you want a walkthrough, see token-approvals-revoke.
Q: What happens if I lose my phone?
A: If you have your seed phrase backed up offline you can restore to a new device. If you don't have the seed phrase, recovery is usually impossible.
Q: How long will a transfer take?
A: It depends on network congestion and fees chosen. Many Layer 2 and Solana transfers are near-instant; mainnet Ethereum varies from minutes to longer under high demand.
Sending crypto between Coinbase and Trust Wallet is straightforward once you confirm the correct network, copy the address carefully, and test with a small amount first. I use this exact checklist every week. What I've found is that patience and verification save a lot of headaches.
If you want more step-by-step help for other exchanges, check: transfer-from-binance or our general send/receive guide: send-receive-crypto. And if security is your priority, read backup-recovery-seed-phrase.
Safe transfers. Double-check addresses. Keep your seed phrase offline.
